Lantana (Lantana camara) and other woody weeds cost Australian producers millions of dollars annually in lost pasture productivity, fencing damage, and control costs. In Queensland's subtropical coastal and hinterland regions, lantana is one of the most problematic declared weeds.
Effective Herbicide Options
Grazon Extra (triclopyr + picloram) is the most widely used and effective herbicide for lantana control in Queensland. Applied as a foliar spray at the recommended rate, it translocates through the root system and provides effective knockdown of established plants. Best applied when lantana is actively growing (spring–summer).
Tordon (picloram + 2,4-D) is effective for basal bark treatment on larger lantana stems.
Garlon 600 (triclopyr) is another effective option, particularly where picloram-containing products are restricted near waterways.
