Application Methods

  • Handgun: Apply at rates specified on the registered product label, with thorough coverage of target weeds
  • Ground Boom: Apply at rates specified on the registered product label per hectare

General Application Guidelines

  • Apply when target weeds are actively growing and not under stress from waterlogging, drought, frost, or disease
  • DO NOT spray if rainfall is expected shortly after application — refer to the product label for withholding guidance
  • DO NOT store prepared spray solution — mix only what is required for the day's application
  • DO NOT store tank mixes with other products
  • Refer to the registered product label for all application rates, dilution instructions, and withholding periods, as these are the legal requirements for use

Pasture Restrictions

  • DO NOT apply to pastures based on Paspalum notatum or Setaria spp. as vegetative growth will be reduced
  • DO NOT treat newly sown pastures as severe damage may occur
  • DO NOT use on pasture seed crops

Mixing Instructions

Half-fill the spray tank with clean water and begin agitation. Add the required amount of Genfarm Metsulfuron 600 WG — which contains 600 g/kg metsulfuron methyl — as directed on the product label. Top up the tank with water and maintain agitation throughout mixing and application. If using adjuvants, add these as directed on the label. Use the prepared spray solution promptly.

Tips

  • Always read the full registered product label before use — it is the legal document governing how this product may be applied in Australia
  • This product is a sulfonylurea herbicide; be aware of potential carryover effects on susceptible crops or pasture species — consult the label for plant-back periods
  • Wear the personal protective equipment specified on the product label during mixing and application

Always read the current registered product label before use. Dose rates and withholding periods on this page are provided as a guide only. The registered label supplied with the product is the legal document and takes precedence. If in doubt, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or the manufacturer directly.

Optimal Application Timing

  • Blackberry: Spray after petal fall in Tasmania; December to April in Victoria. Ensure peripheral runners are sprayed
  • Bracken: Apply after 75% of fronds are fully expanded. Adjust boom height for complete spray overlap
  • Gorse: Apply to bushes up to 2m tall with thorough spray penetration of whole plant
  • Lantana: Apply to bushes up to 2m tall. Spray should penetrate throughout the bush. Retreatment may be necessary for regrowth
  • Crofton Weed: Apply up to early flowering. Best results on younger plants. Ensure good spray penetration in thickets

Adjuvant Recommendations

  • Organosilicone penetrant recommended for many woody weeds at 200mL/100L (handgun) or 10mL/5L (gas gun)
  • Mineral Crop Oil at 1L/100L for blackberry control

Coverage & Volume

  • Spray to thoroughly wet all foliage but not to cause run-off
  • For Harrisia Cactus: Use 1,000-1,500 litres per hectare
  • For Bridal Creeper: Water volumes of 500-800L/ha recommended to minimise native vegetation damage

Follow-up Applications

  • Alligator Weed: Follow-up applications necessary for at least the next two seasons
  • Bridal Creeper: Complete control requires follow-up over at least 2 seasons
  • Various species may require retreatment if regrowth occurs
