Bayer Bomectin Injection 500ml is a ready-to-use broad spectrum antiparasitic injection for cattle and pigs containing Ivermectin.
Ivermectin is a member of the macrocyclic lactone (ML) family, which binds and interferes with invertebrate nerve and muscle cells causing parasite paralysis and death.
Ivermectin has a broad spectrum activity against both adult and larval stages of parasite nematodes.
Bomectin Injection offers reliable parasite control for both internal and external parasites.
With the convenient one-shot injection, there is no splash-off so 100% of the treatment enters the animal for optimum results.

Bomectin Injection will treat and control internal parasites including gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, eyeworms, sucking and biting lice, mites and cattle tick in cattle, and gastrointestinal roundworms, kidney worms, lungworms, lice and mites in pigs.
Bomectin Injection has sustained activity for:
Ostertagia spp. (Small brown stomach worm) and Cooperia spp. (Small Intestinal worm) acquired up to 7 days after treatment; and Dictyocaulus viviparus (Lungworm) and Chrysomya bezziana (Screw Worm fly) acquired up to 14 days after treatment.
Indications:
Bomectin when used at the recommended dose level of 1mL per 50kg bodyweight (cattle) or 1mL per 33kg bpdyweight (pigs) provides control of the internal or external parasites.
Dose Rate:
Cattle:
1mL/50kg liveweight (Ivermectin 200 microgram/kg liveweight) by subcutaneous injection in the neck.
Pigs:
1mL/33kg liveweight (Ivermectin 300 microgram/kg liveweight) by subcutaneous injection in the neck.

Cattle Parasites Controlled
Gastrointestinal roundworms (adult and immature): Ostertagia ostertagi (including third and fourth stage larvae and inhibited immatures), O. lyrata, Haemonchus placei (including third and fourth stage larvae), Trichostrongylus axei, T. colubriformis, Cooperia spp. (including third and fourth stage larvae), Bunostomum phlebotomum (including third and fourth stage larvae), and adults of Nematodirus spathiger, Nematodirus helvetianus, Strongyloides papillosus, Toxocara vitulorum, Trichuris spp., and Oesophagostomum radiatum (Nodule worm - adults and third and fourth stage larvae).
Lungworms: Adult and immature Dictyocaulus viviparus (including inhibited stages).
Eyeworms: Adult Thelazia spp.
Sucking Lice: Linognathus vituli, Haematopinus eurysternus, Solenopotes capillatus. Does not provide full control of cattle biting louse Bovicola (Damalinia) bovis.
Screw Worm Fly: Parasitic larval stages of Chrysomya bezziana.
Mites: Sarcoptes scabiei var. bovis and Chorioptes bovis (aids in control).
Cattle Tick: Boophilus microplus.
Pig Parasites Controlled
Gastrointestinal roundworms: Ascaris suum (adults and L4), Hyostrongylus rubidus (adults and L4), Oesophagostomum spp. (adults and L4), Strongyloides ransomi (adults), Trichuris suis (adults).
Kidney worms: Stephanurus dentatus (adults and L4).
Lungworms: Metastrongylus spp. (adults).
Lice: Haematopinus suis.
Mites: Sarcoptes scabiei var suis.
Persistent Activity
Controls Ostertagia spp. and Cooperia spp. acquired up to 7 days after treatment, and Dictyocaulus viviparus and Chrysomya bezziana acquired up to 14 days after treatment.
Dose rate & administration
1 mL per 50 kg by subcutaneous (SC) injection into the anterior half of the neck only. Do not administer intravenously or intramuscularly. Use within 28 days of first broaching — discard unused portion.

Administration Guidelines
- Inject only under the skin (subcutaneous)
- If possible, inject high on the neck, behind the ear
- Use sterile equipment and strict hygiene to prevent infection
- Avoid injection through contaminated skin areas (mud, faeces)
- Avoid injection through hide wet from rain or dew
- Avoid injection through recently dipped or sprayed hide
- Observe the Code of Practice for use of agricultural compounds
Strongyloides Control in Piglets
Give to sows 7 to 14 days before farrowing to effectively control transmission via milk of Strongyloides ransomi infections to piglets.
Important Notes
Transitory discomfort has been observed in some cattle following subcutaneous administration. A low incidence of soft-tissue swelling at injection site has been observed. These reactions have disappeared without treatment.
Resistance can develop to any drench. Treatments should generally be timed to use antiparasitic properties to prevent development or build up of parasitic infections. Consult your veterinarian for detailed advice on parasite control programs.
Withholding Periods
MEAT: DO NOT USE in pigs or cattle less than 28 days before slaughter for human consumption.
MILK: DO NOT USE in lactating cows or within 28 days of calving where milk or milk products may be used for human consumption.
