Cattle and sheep: prevention of enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney disease), tetanus, black disease, malignant oedema (blackleg-like disease) and blackleg, including swelled head in rams (APVMA 51279).

Shake well before use and keep thoroughly mixed during use. The route of inoculation is subcutaneous (just under the skin). Cattle, including calves: 2 mL followed by a second dose of 2 mL four weeks later. Sheep: 1 mL followed by a second dose of 1 mL four weeks later. Cattle and sheep may be vaccinated at any age; lambs are most conveniently vaccinated at marking time, calves from six weeks of age onwards. Cattle: a booster dose of 2 mL given 12 months after the two basic doses of vaccine should confer lifelong immunity against tetanus and blackleg. To maintain effective immunity against black disease, annual booster doses of Ultravac 5in1 should be given. The two basic doses of Ultravac 5in1 should provide effective immunity against enterotoxaemia for three months. Booster doses are therefore necessary to maintain immunity against enterotoxaemia in cattle and should be given at appropriate intervals according to local and seasonal conditions. Sheep: a booster dose of 1 mL given 12 months after the two basic doses of vaccine should confer lifelong immunity against tetanus and blackleg, but may not do so against enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney disease) or black disease. Further annual doses may be required to maintain effective immunity against these diseases in areas where the risks from the disease are known to be high. A booster dose every 12 months is required to maintain the protective level of immunity. Pregnant ewes not previously vaccinated: a 1 mL dose should be given at the time of mating and a second dose of 1 mL within four weeks of the expected date of lambing. If possible inject high on the neck behind the ear, i.e. under the skin on the side of the neck (just behind and below the base of the ear). Do not inject at any other site. Use the shortest possible needle, not exceeding 15 mm in length. Sterilise all injection apparatus by boiling in water for 10 minutes (or equivalent) before use. As far as possible avoid injection of animals during wet weather or under dusty conditions. Store between 2°C and 8°C (refrigerate, do not freeze). Protect from light. This product can be stored and used for up to 30 days after first opening. On each subsequent reuse, swab the opening with a suitable disinfectant (for example, methylated spirits) both before and after using. A sterile needle and syringe must be used each time product is removed. CAUTION: AVOID CARCASE DAMAGE. This product must be injected only under the skin (subcutaneously). Take care to avoid accidental self-injection. Always read the registered label before use (APVMA 51279).
