SWAT Pour-On for cattle will give effective control of pyrethroid susceptible Buffalo Fly and Cattle Lice when used as directed.

However, the level and duration of control may be reduced due to high fly pressure. Therefore, we recommend to treat all animals in the group. The length of residual protection against Buffalo flies will vary depending on the level of insecticide resistance within a particular area.

Above all, SWAT Pour-On is effective against biting lice and two species of sucking lice.

Tips for Best Results

  • Weigh animals accurately using a weighbridge or calibrated scales — never estimate liveweight, as underdosing reduces efficacy and contributes to insecticide resistance.
  • SWAT Pour-On contains a synthetic pyrethroid (permethrin). Resistance to pyrethroids in Buffalo Fly populations is well documented in Queensland and is widespread across South-East Queensland, including the Gympie region. Monitor treatment outcomes closely and rotate to a different insecticide class if control appears reduced — speak with the team at TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 for advice on rotation options suited to your district.
  • Treat the entire mob at the same time. Leaving untreated animals in the group undermines control and allows fly and lice populations to persist and rebound quickly — this is particularly important under high fly pressure conditions typical of South-East Queensland summers.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, out of reach of children and away from feed and water. Keep records of each treatment including the date, product used, animals treated, dose applied, and withholding period to support your property's biosecurity and livestock management records.
