This product controls a range of broadleaf weeds commonly found in lawns and turf, including bindii (Soliva sessilis), clover (Trifolium spp.), creeping oxalis (Oxalis corniculata), dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), thistles, dock (Rumex spp.), cudweed (Gnaphalium spp.), capeweed (Arctotheca calendula), and other broadleaf weeds as listed on the product label. MCPA targets a broad spectrum of broadleaf species, while Dicamba provides additional activity on harder-to-control weeds such as clover and oxalis. The combination is specifically suited to buffalo grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) turf where tolerance to this mixture has been established.
Surefire Buffalo Grass Bindi & Broadleaf Weedkiller contains MCPA and Dicamba, a combination that controls broadleaf weeds in buffalo grass lawns and similar turf situations. Mix the required amount of product with water in a sprayer as directed on the product label, ensuring thorough agitation before and during application. Apply as a uniform foliar spray to actively growing weeds, taking care to achieve even coverage without excessive runoff.
This product is formulated for use on buffalo grass turf where other broadleaf herbicides like 2,4-D may cause damage. Always confirm the turf variety is tolerant before treating large areas — spot test first if unsure. Apply when weeds are small and actively growing for best results, as larger or stressed weeds are harder to control.
Do not apply if rainfall is expected within a few hours of treatment, as this will wash the product off foliage before absorption occurs. Avoid spraying in high winds to prevent drift onto desirable plants, garden beds, or neighbouring properties. Do not apply during periods of drought stress or extreme heat, as plant uptake will be reduced and turf damage risk increases.

Tips for Best Results
- Treat weeds early: Apply when bindii and other broadleaf weeds are small and actively growing — in Queensland this typically means treating in autumn or winter before bindii sets seed and forms prickles. Once prickles form, the season is largely lost.
- Check your turf variety: MCPA and Dicamba combinations are generally safe on buffalo grass, but some finer or more sensitive varieties may show temporary discolouration. Always do a small spot test and wait several days before treating the whole lawn.
- Avoid heat and drought stress: Do not apply during hot, dry Queensland summers or when the lawn is under moisture stress. Wait until conditions are mild and the lawn has been watered — stressed turf is more susceptible to herbicide damage.
- Protect garden plants and trees: Dicamba is highly mobile in soil and can be taken up by the roots of nearby ornamental plants and trees. Keep spray well away from garden beds, shrubs, and the root zones of established trees — this is especially important on sandy soils common in parts of the Gympie region.
- Storage and safety: Store in a cool, dry, locked location away from children, pets, feed, and foodstuffs, as required for an S6 poison. Do not store in direct sunlight or extreme heat. Dispose of empty containers according to label instructions and local council requirements.
