Weeds listed on the label include annual ryegrass, barnyard grass, summer grass/crabgrass, wild oats, winter grass, capeweed, sub clover, erodium, Paterson's curse, turnip weed, white clover, dandelion, dock, prairie grass, couch, guinea grass, Johnson grass, kikuyu, African lovegrass, paspalum, phalaris, rat's tail grass and spear thistle (with varying levels of control). Always refer to the current product label and the Apparent Shatter 750 Instruction Booklet for the full registered list of target weeds, control ratings and rates for each situation.
Apparent Shatter Sulfometuron-methyl 750 WG is a selective sulfonylurea herbicide applied as a foliar or soil-active treatment. Mix the required amount of product in a small volume of clean water to form a slurry before adding to the spray tank, then top up to the required volume with agitation. Always check the product label and the Apparent Shatter 750 Instruction Booklet for specific application rates as they vary depending on the target weed species and application method (knapsack, handgun or boom).
This product is registered for use in commercial and industrial areas, around agricultural buildings and on rights of way – it is not registered for use in pastures or crops. Only ground boom and handgun/knapsack application are recommended, ensuring thorough and even coverage of target weeds. For best results, apply to actively growing weeds that are not under moisture or temperature stress. Avoid application when weeds are dormant, waterlogged, or frost-affected.
Do not spray during heavy rain or when heavy rain is forecast. Sulfometuron-methyl has soil-residual activity, which can persist and affect susceptible plants in or near treated areas – avoid drift onto crops, pastures or desirable vegetation. Take particular care near waterways, as this product is harmful to aquatic environments.
Always read the full product label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including chemical-resistant gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing when mixing and applying.
Always read the current registered product label before use. Dose rates and withholding periods on this page are provided as a guide only. The registered label supplied with the product is the legal document and takes precedence. If in doubt, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or the manufacturer directly.
Tips for Best Results
- Apply to actively growing weeds: Sulfometuron-methyl works best when weeds are small and actively growing. Applications to stressed, mature, or dormant weeds will give poor results, particularly for perennial species.
- Watch soil pH and type: Persistence and soil activity of sulfometuron-methyl increases in alkaline soils and can be extended in heavy-textured soils. Be cautious with plant-back intervals to avoid damage to susceptible pasture species or crops following treatment.
- Resistance management: Sulfonylurea herbicides (Group B / HRAC Group 2) are at high risk of resistance development. Avoid repeated use of the same mode of action — rotate with herbicides from different groups and integrate cultural control methods where possible.
- Avoid contamination of water sources: Do not apply directly to or near waterways, drains, or dams. Observe all buffer zones listed on the label to protect aquatic environments and non-target vegetation.
- Tank mixing and sprayer hygiene: If tank mixing with other herbicides, add products in the correct order as specified on the labels. After use, thoroughly clean spray equipment — sulfonylurea residues can damage sensitive crops if equipment is not properly decontaminated using an alkaline cleaning agent.
Always read the label and follow directions for use. The registered label is the legal document governing use of this product.
