Tips for Best Results
- Weigh animals accurately — never estimate. Drenching to guessed weights risks under-dosing lighter animals and over-dosing heavier ones. Use a weigh crate and dose to the heaviest animal in each mob.
- Understand levamisole resistance in your area. Levamisole (the clear drench) is a valuable drench class, but resistance has been confirmed in some worm populations across Queensland, particularly in Barber's Pole Worm. Conduct regular DrenchChecks (faecal egg count reduction tests) to confirm levamisole is still working effectively on your property before relying on it as a standalone treatment.
- Practise refugia management. WormBoss advises leaving a proportion of low-risk animals undrenched where practical, to maintain a population of worms in refugia that are not exposed to drench selection pressure. This slows the development of resistance across the mob and preserves the effectiveness of all drench classes, including levamisole.
- Rotate drench classes strategically. Rather than rotating on a calendar basis, base your drench class selection on DrenchCheck results and the known resistance status of worms on your property. Nilzan LV's combination of levamisole and oxyclozanide makes it particularly useful where fluke is also present, reducing the need for a separate flukicide treatment.
- Store correctly and keep records. Store Nilzan LV below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Record the date, mob treated, mob size, estimated weight range, dose administered, batch number, and any DrenchCheck results. Good records are the foundation of a sound parasite management plan.
Always read the label and follow directions for use. The registered label is the legal document governing use of this product.
