Tips for Best Results

  • Weigh animals accurately — never guess liveweight. Dose to the heaviest animal in the mob to ensure every animal receives an effective dose and to reduce the risk of underdosing.
  • Levamisole (clear drench) resistance management — Levamisole is a clear drench acting on the nervous system of worms. Resistance to levamisole is present in some worm populations across Queensland, including Barber's Pole Worm. Use a WormTest (larval differentiation or DrenchCheck) to confirm efficacy on your property before relying on this drench class as your primary treatment.
  • Preserve refugia — according to WormBoss principles, avoid drenching every animal at every treatment. Leaving a proportion of low-risk animals (e.g., healthy adults in good condition) undrenched helps maintain a population of worms that haven't been exposed to drenching, slowing the development of resistance on your property.
  • Rotate drench classes strategically — WormBoss recommends rotating between drench classes based on resistance test results, not simply on a calendar rotation. Nilzan LV combines levamisole with oxyclozanide, giving you dual-action activity, particularly useful where liver fluke is also a concern in your area.
  • Storage — store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep container tightly sealed. Check the expiry date before use.
  • Keep records — record the date, mob, bodyweights, dose administered, and drench product used. Good records support resistance monitoring and help you track your drenching program over time. If you need help setting up a drenching program suited to your property, call the team at TGRM on (07) 5482 1692.
