Dosage and Administration
NEOVEMOX PLUS TAPE LONG ACTING HORSE WORMER AND BOTICIDE GEL is administered orally (into the mouth) at a dose rate of 0.4 mg/kg moxidectin and 2.5 mg/kg praziquantel.
Administration Steps:
- Accurately determine the weight of the horse to be treated (if a scale is not available, use a weigh tape)
- Hold the syringe with the capped end pointing to the left to see the weight measurements and tick marks
- Turn the dial ring until the left side of the ring lines up with the weight of the animal
- Remove the barrel cap and save it for later use if required
- Ensure the animal's mouth is empty
- Insert the nozzle of the syringe into the horse's mouth at the space between front and rear teeth, making sure the tip of the syringe is over the back of the tongue
- Deliver the dose of gel onto the back of the tongue by gently pushing the plunger until it stops
- Raise the horse's head once dosing is completed to ensure the gel is swallowed
Important: Do not administer the full syringe to horses under 400 kg (11.8g syringe) or 500 kg (14.4g syringe). More than one syringe is needed to treat horses weighing more than 700 kg.
Surplus Gel: Surplus gel can be stored or used to treat a second horse. Replace the barrel cap and store below 30°C (room temperature), but do not use after the expiry date shown on the label.
Always read the current registered product label before use. Dose rates and withholding periods on this page are provided as a guide only. Parasite Control Programs
All horses should have a regular parasite control program. Regular treatment will reduce the risk of diseases due to small and large strongyles such as colic and verminous arteritis. Reinfection of horses with worms is common and treatment must be repeated routinely to ensure effective control.
The unique long term activity of NEOVEMOX PLUS TAPE LONG ACTING HORSE WORMER AND BOTICIDE GEL against worms, including encysted small strongyles, is particularly useful in reducing the required dosing frequency in strategic parasite control programs.
Retreatment Intervals: For the control of small strongyles can be extended to 14 to 16 weeks. Consult your veterinarian for advice on faecal egg count interpretation and the appropriate program for your specific needs.
Precautions
- Use with caution in foals and smaller breeds by carefully calibrating the dose and avoid overdosing
- Safe in foals over 4 weeks of age and in all breeding stock, including stallions and pregnant mares when used as directed
- Keep away from dogs: Excessive consumption of spilt material may cause toxicity
- Extremely toxic to aquatic species - do not contaminate dams, rivers, streams or other waterways with the chemical or used container
Withholding Period
Meat Withholding Period (Horses): Do not use less than 28 days before slaughter for human consumption.

How is Neovemox Plus Tape Long Acting administered?
Neovemox Plus Tape Long Acting is supplied as a ready-to-use gel syringe that is administered orally (into the mouth). The syringe is calibrated according to the horse's body weight in intervals of 25 kg.
