Glanvac 6 B12 Vaccine (APVMA 50381) is registered for the control of caseous lymphadenitis and the prevention of enterotoxaemia, tetanus, black disease, malignant oedema and blackleg in sheep, lambs, goats and kids, and swelled head in rams, and for the treatment and prevention of Vitamin B12 deficiency in sheep in areas of known or suspected cobalt deficiency.

1 mL, for subcutaneous use only, high on the neck, behind the ear, with a needle not exceeding 15 mm in length.

What is Glanvac 6 B12 registered for?
The control of caseous lymphadenitis and the prevention of enterotoxaemia, tetanus, black disease, malignant oedema and blackleg in sheep, lambs, goats and kids, and swelled head in rams; and the treatment and prevention of Vitamin B12 deficiency in sheep in areas of known or suspected cobalt deficiency.
How is it given?
1 mL by subcutaneous injection high on the neck, behind the ear, with a needle not exceeding 15 mm. Sheep and goats (all ages) get 1 mL followed by a second 1 mL dose four weeks later; the first dose should not be given to lambs before three weeks of age. All animals should receive an annual booster; goats require regular revaccination at six-monthly intervals to maintain effective immunity against enterotoxaemia.

Are there any side effects?
Localised swelling may develop at the site of injection and a firm nodular lump may persist for some weeks or even months. Cases have been recorded of goats developing signs of anaphylactoid shock shortly after vaccination, so valuable animals should be kept under close observation for one hour after vaccination and a veterinarian called immediately if signs of shock become evident.
