K-Ethephon Growth Regulator 1L (Kendon) is a plant growth regulator containing 480 g/L ethephon, widely used as a banana and fruit ripening agent and for crop ripening, thinning and loosening. It releases ethylene in the plant/produce to bring on uniform ripening and colour.
K-Ethephon is a Schedule 6 corrosive (acidic) liquid classified as dangerous goods (UN 3265, Class 8, PG III). Parcel couriers and Australia Post do not accept Class 8 corrosives, so it is available for local delivery or in-store Click & Collect only. Always read the registered product label and Safety Data Sheet before use.
Active Ingredient: Ethephon (2-chloroethylphosphonic acid) 480 g/L

Always read the current registered product label before use. Withholding periods must be observed before slaughter, milking, or egg collection. The label supplied with the product is the legal document and takes precedence. If in doubt, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or the manufacturer directly.
Crops & Uses
A plant growth regulator (ethephon 480 g/L) for crop ripening, thinning and loosening, and as a post-harvest ripening agent (including banana ripening). Registered uses and crops are listed on the product label — always confirm your intended use is registered before applying.
K-Ethephon is a plant growth regulator (480 g/L ethephon) used for the ripening, thinning and loosening of a range of crops, and as a post-harvest ripening agent. It releases ethylene in plant tissue to promote uniform ripening and colour development. Always read the registered product label in full and follow the rates and timing specified for your crop and situation.
Application
Mix the required amount of product with water in a partially filled tank and agitate. Refer to the DIRECTIONS FOR USE table on the registered label for the exact rate, dilution and timing for your crop — ethephon activity is highly stage-dependent, so correct timing is essential. Apply with thorough, even coverage.
Handling
K-Ethephon is an acidic corrosive liquid. Do not mix with alkaline products (ethephon breaks down and loses activity in alkaline conditions) and use the mix as soon as it is prepared. Wear elbow-length PVC or nitrile gloves and eye protection, and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Always read the current registered product label before use. Dose rates and withholding periods on this page are provided as a guide only. The registered label supplied with the product is the legal document and takes precedence. If in doubt, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or the manufacturer directly.
Tips for Best Results
- Follow the label rate and timing: ethephon is very stage-dependent — applying at the wrong growth or ripening stage can give uneven results or crop damage.
- Keep the mix acidic: ethephon degrades and loses activity in alkaline water or tank mixes — don’t combine with alkaline products and spray as soon as mixed.
- Temperature drives ripening: ethylene release is temperature-dependent — for post-harvest ripening, hold produce within the recommended temperature range for even colour.
- Corrosive & Schedule 6: store locked and upright in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated area away from children and food; wear PVC/nitrile gloves and eye protection when handling.
Always read the label and follow directions for use. The registered label is the legal document governing use of this product.
