Acatak Duostar is a pour-on formulation containing the tick development inhibitor fluazuron and the broad spectrum anti-parasitic, ivermectin.
Acatak Duostar is used for the strategic control of fluazuron-sensitive cattle tick (Rhipicephalus microplus) on beef cattle.
It also treats and controls ivermectin-sensitive internal and external parasites of beef cattle, including gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworm, sucking and biting lice, sarcoptic and chorioptic mites and buffalo fly.

It combines two modes of action for knockdown and residual control of fluazuron-susceptible ticks, including strains resistant to organophosphates, synthetic pyrethroids and amidines, as well as ivermectin-sensitive parasites.
Applied early in the season as part of a strategic control program, Acatak Duostar helps to minimise the build-up of the tick population on cattle and pastures.
Acatak Duostar has two proven modes of action to help mitigate the risk of resistance developing and prolong the life of all available chemistry.
Convenient pour-on formulation
Dosage and administration:
Apply the product in two bands, about 7cm wide, each side of the spine between the rump and the shoulders using a 30mL Acatak Duostar Manual Applicator or 30mL Genesis Power Doser fitted with a fan spray nozzle (55 psi operating pressure).
Dose to the heaviest animal in the mob.
DO NOT underdose.
Restraints:
DO NOT USE on cattle that are producing or may in the future produce milk for human consumption.
Contraindications:
This product is contraindicated for use on pregnant cows within six weeks of calving to avoid handling stress.

Dose rate & administration
Apply as two 7 cm wide bands, one on each side of the spine from shoulder to rump using an Elanco approved applicator only — no other applicator. For beef cattle after weaning only. Do not treat calves — suckling calves receive protection through their mother. Do not re-treat within 6 weeks. Maximum 3 treatments per annual tick season.

- This is a tick development inhibitor — it can take 2–3 weeks for cattle to be visibly free of ticks after treatment.

Meat: 28 days. ESI: 42 days — confirm current ESI from Elanco on 1800 226 324 or at apvma.gov.au/residues before slaughter for export.
Milk: Do not use on cattle producing or likely to produce milk for human consumption.

Tips for Best Results
- Weigh animals accurately using a weighbridge or calibrated scales — never estimate liveweight, as underdosing is a primary driver of treatment failure and resistance development.
- As a Macrocyclic Lactone (ML), ivermectin resistance is a genuine and growing concern in Australian cattle parasite populations. Avoid using MLs as your sole drench class rotation. Where possible, rotate between drench classes with different modes of action, and use combination products like Acatak Duostar strategically as part of a broader resistance management plan.
- Following WormBoss refugia principles, avoid treating every animal in the mob at the same time unless absolutely necessary. Leaving a proportion of low-risk animals untreated helps maintain a susceptible worm population in refugia on the pasture, which dilutes resistant genes and slows the spread of resistance.
- Apply Acatak Duostar early in the tick season as part of a strategic program to reduce the build-up of tick burdens on cattle and contamination of pastures — timing is critical to getting the best outcome from the fluazuron component.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and animals. Keep records of all treatments including date, product used, batch number, animals treated, and bodyweights — good records support resistance monitoring and help your vet or advisor make better recommendations.
