Fence post spacing — a quick guideLine posts (star pickets) carry the wires between your strainer posts. As a rough starting point: crop or exclusion fence about 5 m, sheep about 4 m, cattle about 4 m on flat ground and about 3 m on hilly ground. Space them closer together for more wires, larger or pushier stock, and undulating country. Let your strainer posts do the anchoring at ends, corners, gateways and any change of direction or slope.

Drive the 210cm Waratah Galstar JIO post using a post driver, aiming for 600mm depth in firm soil. This height suits standard 5-strand cattle or sheep boundary fencing where roughly 150cm of above-ground post height is required for the wire runs. Tips: Consistent driving depth across all posts keeps your wire lines level and avoids sagging between posts. Use a line or string guide when setting long runs to keep intermediate posts perfectly aligned.
