Vibrovax vaccine is used for the prevention of infertility and abortion in cattle caused by Vibriosis.
After a comprehensive Vibrovax vaccination program, the effects of vibriosis will be minimised.
However, a continuing vaccination program for bulls and heifers is highly recommended.

It is suitable for use in both beef and dairy cattle.

The most comprehensive program involves the vaccination of all breeding animals including bulls, cows and heifers.
Bulls:
Initially, all bulls should be given two 5 mL doses a minimum of 4 weeks apart. Vaccination should be timed so that the second dose is given about 2-4 weeks before joining.
After this initial vaccination program, an annual dose of 5 mL each year will ensure they remain protected. Regular vaccination of bulls before joining is an important means of controlling the disease.
Heifers (younger than 18 months):
Initially heifers should be given two 5 mL doses a minimum of 4 weeks apart. Vaccination should be timed so that the second dose is given about 2-4 weeks before joining.
Heifers and cows (older than 18 months)
Initially, heifers/cows should be given a 5 mL dose. After this initial dose an annual dose of 2 mL, or a single dose of 5 mL every two years will ensure they remain protected. The vaccine should be given 2-4 weeks before joining.
Other control measures such as segregation of infected cattle, use of young clean bulls and culling of barren cows should also be practised.

Target Disease & Animals
Vibrovax is registered for use in both beef and dairy cattle — including bulls, heifers, and older cows — for the prevention of Bovine Venereal Campylobacteriosis, commonly known as Vibriosis. This is a sexually transmitted bacterial disease caused by Campylobacter fetus that can result in infertility, early embryonic death, and abortion in cattle herds. Vibrovax is the only vaccine currently registered in Australia for the prevention of Vibriosis in cattle.
Administration: Inject subcutaneously (under the skin) using clean, sterile equipment. Seek veterinary advice before commencing a vaccination program, as several options exist depending on your herd's situation and history.
Dosing schedule — Bulls: Two 5 mL doses given a minimum of 4 weeks apart, prior to the start of mating. An annual booster of 2 mL, or a 5 mL dose every two years, maintains ongoing protection. Heifers: A single 5 mL dose after 18 months of age. If the program begins before 18 months, two doses are required. Tips for Best Results
- Time vaccination strategically: Bulls require two doses at least 4 weeks apart before joining — plan your vaccination well ahead of the mating season so immunity is fully established before bulls go out with cows.
- Vaccinate the whole breeding mob: The most comprehensive program includes bulls, heifers and cows. Vaccinating bulls alone reduces shedding but vaccinating females as well provides maximum protection across the herd's reproductive potential.
- Introduce bulls carefully: Purchased bulls of unknown vaccination or disease history represent a real biosecurity risk. Vaccinate and ideally test new bulls before introducing them to your females — talk to your vet about pre-joining bull checks in the Gympie region.
- Keep accurate records: Record vaccination dates, lot numbers, animal IDs and the person who administered the vaccine. This information is essential for booster scheduling and herd health audits.
- Store correctly: Store Vibrovax between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of direct sunlight. Check the expiry date before use and discard any unused vaccine as directed on the label.
