Ultravac 7in1 is used to prevent the common types of leptospirosis which affect cattle (and can also be transmitted from cattle to people) as well as prevent the major life threatening clostridial diseases that commonly can occur in cattle.
Ultravac®7in1 is used for the routine immunisation of cattle for the prevention of enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney disease), tetanus, black disease, malignant oedema (blackleg-like disease), blackleg and leptospirosis in cattle. For the prevention of urinary shedding of the named leptospires in cattle when used prior to natural exposure and to prevent the risk of human leptospiral infection associated with the shedding of the named leptospires in the urine and from the reproductive tract of cattle. For the prevention of reproductive tract colonisation and placental and foetal infection with L. hardjo.

Ultravac 7in1 vaccine provides unique protection by preventing the shedding of leptospires L.hardjo and L.pomona in the urine and from the reproductive tract. This means that as well as the animal being protected from the productivity losses associated with leptospirosis, the vaccine also prevents the animal from contaminating the environment and placing unvaccinated cattle and people at risk.
Ultravac 7in1 can be used from 6 weeks of age. This ensures early protection after two initial doses, without the need for expensive additional doses of vaccine to provide effective year long protection. A single annual dose is all that is required to provide on-going annual protection, without the need for six-monthly booster doses. Additional doses of Ultravac 5in1 may be required to maintain immunity to enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney). These are given prior to seasonal challenge and advice from your local veterinarian is recommended.

Ultravac 7in1 is registered for use in cattle to provide protection against seven serious diseases: enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney disease), tetanus, black disease, malignant oedema (blackleg-like disease), blackleg, and leptospirosis caused by Leptospira hardjo and L. pomona. It also prevents urinary and reproductive tract shedding of leptospires, protecting both unvaccinated cattle and people who work with or around cattle from exposure to these zoonotic pathogens.
Ultravac 7in1 is for cattle only and is given by subcutaneous injection — 2.5 mL per animal, high on the neck behind the ear. Use clean, sterile needles and syringes and follow standard vaccination hygiene to minimise injection-site reactions.
Program: Two initial doses 4–6 weeks apart; calves may be first vaccinated from 1 month of age (calves less than 3 months of age at the second vaccination should receive a single booster dose 6 months later). An annual booster dose must be given. The two basic doses provide effective immunity against enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney) for about three months, so booster doses are necessary to maintain enterotoxaemia immunity — seek veterinary advice on timing. For leptospirosis, complete the initial regimen or booster before the season of greatest risk and prior to natural exposure.
Key precautions: Shake well before use and keep thoroughly mixed during use. Store between 2°C and 8°C (refrigerate, do not freeze). Use the contents within 30 days of first broaching the vial. Tips for Best Results
- Plan your vaccination program in advance — complete the two-dose primary course at least 4–6 weeks before anticipated risk periods such as wet season, calving, or periods of high pasture contamination to ensure full protection is in place when it matters most.
- Ultravac 7in1 is a vaccine, not an antiparasitic drench, so standard drench resistance rotation principles do not apply here. - Cold chain is critical — transport the vaccine in a cool box with ice bricks and return unused product to the fridge promptly. Never leave vaccine in a hot vehicle or direct sunlight, as loss of cold chain will render the vaccine ineffective without any visible sign of damage.
- Keep accurate vaccination records for each animal or mob, including date, batch number, and expiry date. This supports your property biosecurity plan, helps confirm booster timing, and is valuable documentation if you are audited under a quality assurance program or need to demonstrate due diligence around leptospirosis as a zoonotic risk on-farm.
