Unwind the tape from the reel and run it through your fence posts, securing it with appropriate insulators at each post. Use Gallagher connectors or crimps to join sections end-to-end, making sure connections are tight and won't slip under tension. Tension the tape moderately—you're not aiming for steel-wire tightness, just enough to keep it straight and visible. Connect one end to your energiser and the other to a ground stake, and you're ready to go. Tips: Keep the tape clean and dry when storing it; moisture and dirt reduce conductivity and make it harder to see. If you're running a long subdivision, test the voltage at the far end with a fault meter to make sure your stock are getting a proper shock—tape loses conductivity over distance, so don't be surprised if you need to move your energiser closer or upgrade to a higher joule unit on longer runs. White tape is visible to horses, but still walk the fence line yourself before turning stock in, especially around corners and gateways where they might not spot it.
