Unroll the braid from the reel and attach it to your first post using a corner insulator or poly post clip, ensuring it's tight enough to twang when plucked. Run the line along your fence line at a consistent height (typically 1.2m for horses), securing it to each post with insulators spaced according to your post distance. At the end of the run, terminate into a gate handle or final post insulator, then connect your energiser to the system and test the voltage before turning stock in. Tips: Keep the braid as tight as possible during installation—sagging tape loses contact with stock and won't deliver a reliable shock. Inspect regularly for damage from weather, wildlife or contact with trees, as even small splits reduce conductivity and let your fence go dead. Use proper poly post clips or ring insulators rather than tying knots, which weaken the braid and create high-resistance connection points that waste voltage.
