Sow THRIVE forage sorghum October–January when soil temperature is consistently above 18°C (ideally 20–25°C) into good moisture. Drill at 8–12 kg/ha in rows 50–75 cm apart, or broadcast at 10–15 kg/ha, at a sowing depth of 20–40 mm for optimal germination. First grazing is safe at 6–8 weeks when plants exceed 60 cm tall; do not graze younger sorghum due to dangerous prussic acid levels. Expect rapid regrowth and multiple grazings through summer and autumn until the first frost. Tips: CRITICAL: Never graze sorghum under 60 cm tall or when frosted/drought-stressed — prussic acid can kill stock rapidly. After frost, wait 5–7 days minimum before grazing regrowth. Avoid grazing lush, wet sorghum to prevent bloat; ensure stock have access to other roughage. THRIVE seed is treated with Thiram filmcoat for seedling disease protection.
