Tempra 750 WG Herbicide is for the selective, post-emergence control of nutgrass in sugarcane, corn or maize and sorghum and for the selective post emergence control of nutgrass and mullumbimby couch in turf.
Being a dry, flowable herbicide, it disperses readily in water for ease of preparation - note that a
non-ionic surfactant is needed to ensure adequate plant uptake.

Surefire Tempra 750 WG is specifically registered for the control of nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus) in sugarcane, corn/maize, sorghum, cotton (shielded sprayers) and turf, and Mullumbimby couch in turf – nutgrass is a highly persistent and problematic weed in Queensland and across subtropical and tropical Australia. Halosulfuron-methyl is a Group B (ALS-inhibiting sulfonylurea) herbicide that is absorbed through the foliage and translocated to the growing points and tubers; weed foliage gradually yellows over 7–10 days with full effects over 4–6 weeks. Nutgrass is notoriously difficult to control due to its underground tuber network, and this product is formulated to target that growth cycle when applied correctly to actively growing plants.
Surefire Tempra 750 WG is a water-dispersible granule herbicide containing 750 g/kg halosulfuron-methyl (Group B herbicide), registered for the selective post-emergence control of nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus) in sugarcane, corn/maize, sorghum and cotton (shielded sprayers only), and nutgrass and Mullumbimby couch in turf. Always read the full product label and Safety Data Sheet before use.
To mix, add the required amount of product to a partially filled spray tank with agitation running, then top up with water. A non-ionic surfactant is required – the label specifies 200 mL/100 L of a 600 g/L non-ionic surfactant. Ensure thorough mixing before application and apply as a foliar spray with good coverage of the weed foliage.
Label rates are 65–130 g/ha (the higher rate for dense infestations); spot-treatment rates are given on the label. Apply post-emergence to actively growing nutgrass. Applications made during periods of plant stress (drought, frost, or waterlogging) may reduce efficacy. Do not apply more than 200 g/ha per season and do not make more than one application of a Group B herbicide per season.
Always observe all label restraints regarding plant-back periods, withholding periods (a four-week grazing withholding applies to sorghum) and re-entry intervals. Refer to the registered label for all application rates and specific use directions.

Tips for Best Results
- Apply to actively growing nutgrass: Halosulfuron-methyl performs best when nutgrass has fresh leaf growth (label: new growth greater than 5 cm for nutgrass, 2 cm for Mullumbimby couch) and is not under heat or moisture stress. In Queensland this typically means the warmer, wetter months.
- Always add the surfactant: Nutgrass has a waxy leaf surface. The label requires a 600 g/L non-ionic surfactant at 200 mL/100 L for adequate uptake.
- Expect follow-up treatments: Nutgrass tuber banks are persistent; apply follow-up treatments to new growth as permitted by the label, within the seasonal maximum of 200 g/ha.
- Resistance management: Halosulfuron-methyl is a Group B (ALS inhibitor) herbicide. Do not make more than one application of a Group B herbicide per season and integrate cultural controls such as cultivation where practical.
- Storage and safety: Store in a cool, dry, locked location away from children, livestock, and foodstuffs. Always wear the recommended PPE as specified on the label, including gloves and eye protection when mixing and handling.
