Surefire Flupropanate Herbicide (745 g/L flupropanate) is a soil-applied, water-soluble liquid herbicide for the control of perennial and annual grasses in pasture and non-crop situations. Apply by ground boom spray at 1.5–9 L/ha, by air at 1.5–2 L/ha, or as a spot spray at 150–500 mL per 100 L water, depending on the target weed and situation — refer to the label for the correct rate.
Flupropanate is taken up through the soil, so treated areas need adequate rainfall or irrigation after application to move the chemical into the root zone; effectiveness is reduced in dry conditions until rain occurs. Avoid applying to waterlogged soils or where runoff into waterways, dams or drains is likely.
Do not apply to areas where desirable pasture species or crops could be affected by soil residual activity — flupropanate is long-persisting in soil and can damage susceptible species long after application. Tips for Best Results
- Activate with rainfall: Flupropanate requires moisture to move into the soil root zone. Aim to apply ahead of forecast rainfall, or be prepared to irrigate treated areas if rain is not expected within a reasonable timeframe.
- Avoid sensitive areas: This product has a long soil residual and can persist for extended periods. Keep well away from desirable pasture legumes, trees, ornamentals, and any areas where replanting is planned, as susceptible species may be damaged long after application.
- Use correct PPE: As a Schedule 6 chemical, appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing must be worn during mixing and application. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full requirements.
- Prevent off-target movement: Do not apply near waterways, drainage lines, or where surface runoff could carry the product into sensitive areas. Flupropanate is highly water soluble and can move with water movement.
- Store securely: As an S6 poison, store in a locked, clearly labelled chemical storage area away from children, livestock, and foodstuffs. Dispose of empty containers in accordance with label instructions and local regulations.
