What does Supona control?
Supona is a special formulation for use in cattle backrubbers and as an overspray for control of buffalo fly (Haematobia irritans exigua). It contains 200 g/L chlorfenvinphos and is for use in Qld, WA, NSW and NT only.
Can I use it on dairy cows?
DO NOT USE on lactating cows where milk may be used or processed for human consumption when treatment is by backrubber application. The milk withholding period for treatment by overspray is zero (0) days.
What are the withholding periods?
Meat: zero (0) days. Milk (treatment by overspray): zero (0) days. Export slaughter interval: treatment by backrubber, do not use less than 10 days before slaughter for export; treatment by overspray, zero (0) days. How often can cattle be treated?
Backrubber: charge the backrubber with 20 mL treated oil per animal every three weeks. Overspray: treatment at intervals of 21 days during the buffalo fly season is recommended (minimum permitted retreatment interval is 10 days), and no more than 18 overspray treatments may be carried out in any one year. Cattle should not be treated concurrently with, or within 10 days of treatment with, other products containing organophosphates.

It is classified as environmentally hazardous (a marine pollutant), so it is regulated as a dangerous good for sea and air transport and our freight carriers will not accept it on those routes.
