Install the gate handle by connecting the four strands of tape to the corresponding terminals on the Gallagher G71804 unit. Mount the gate at a convenient height across your fence line where stock regularly pass through, ensuring the spring mechanism has clear space to operate. Tension the tape firmly so the gate returns to closed position after each use, then test with a voltage meter to confirm the live wire connection is working properly. Tips: Check your gate tension weekly during hot weather—tape can stretch and lose spring response, leaving gaps that stock will exploit. Always keep the live wire connection clean and corrosion-free; a dodgy connection will let clever animals learn the gate isn't properly live. Test the return spring regularly to make sure it's closing fully; if it starts hanging open, tighten it up before you lose animals through it.
