Drive the eyebolt assembly into the post end using a post driver or fence rammer — keep the post vertical and strike square to avoid bending the bolt. Once seated, thread your wire or cable through the eyebolt eye and secure it to your strainer or end post using your preferred tensioning method. Make sure the bolt is fully driven flush to the post to prevent stock catching or snagging. Tips: Always check that your post is sound timber before driving — rotten or splintered posts will split or reject the bolt. Drive straight and true; angled strikes will bend the eyebolt and leave you with a useless assembly. Keep your post driver clean and in good condition so the strike transfers proper force without bouncing or glancing.
