Ensure the bird's leg is clean and dry before application. Gently wrap the spiral band around the bird's leg, starting from the foot and spiralling upward, ensuring it sits firmly but not too tightly—you should be able to fit one finger between the band and leg. Secure the band by overlapping the end and pressing firmly into place. Check the band regularly as the bird grows to prevent constriction. Tips: Apply bands to young birds (chicks) for easier fitting and to allow room for leg growth. Use different coloured bands to identify individual birds or groups within your flock for management purposes. Keep spare bands on hand during peak breeding or rearing seasons.
