Position the 22,500L tank on level, well-drained ground with partial shade to minimise algae growth and water temperature fluctuations. Install a float valve to automatically maintain water level and prevent overflow. Ensure adequate trough face space (0.75m per cow for dairy operations) and place where livestock can access water safely without causing erosion or mud. Connect to your rainwater collection system or mains water supply as required. Tips: In Queensland's hot climate, cattle water consumption can reach 100L per day during summer—plan for peak demand rather than average use. Clean the tank monthly to remove algae and disinfect periodically to maintain water quality; the smooth poly surface is much easier to clean than concrete.
