Position the 13,500L tank on flat, well-drained ground in a location that provides partial shade to minimise algae growth and water heating. Install a float valve to automatically maintain water level and prevent overflow. Ensure adequate trough face space of 0.75m per cow for dairy operations, or adjust based on herd size and water consumption rates. Connect water supply via the inlet and ensure the tank is secure before filling. Tips: In Queensland's hot climate, water consumption can reach 100L per cow daily during summer, so monitor levels regularly—especially during temperature spikes. Clean the tank monthly and disinfect periodically to control algae; the smooth poly surface makes cleaning easier than concrete. Position the tank to catch some morning or afternoon shade to reduce water temperature and algae proliferation.
