Position the tank to allow easy access for cattle and ensure 0.75m of trough face space per cow in dairy operations. Fit a float valve to the inlet to automatically maintain water levels and prevent overflow. Connect to your rainwater collection system or water supply, ensuring all connections are secure and food-grade compliant. Tips: In Queensland's hot climate, position your tank in partial shade as a 10°C temperature rise can nearly double cattle water consumption—up to 100L per head daily in summer. Clean the trough monthly and disinfect periodically to prevent algae buildup, which is more common in warmer months. The ridgeless design makes cleaning easier than concrete alternatives; use a soft brush and food-grade cleaner to maintain water quality.
