Install the 500L Rapidplas tank on level, well-drained ground with partial shade to minimize algae growth and water heating. Attach a float valve to the inlet to prevent overflow and maintain consistent water levels. Position the trough to allow adequate drinking space—approximately 0.75m of trough face per cow in dairy operations—and ensure it's easily accessible to your livestock. Connect water supply via gravity feed or pump as required for your property setup. Tips: Clean the trough monthly to remove algae buildup, especially during Queensland's warm months when water consumption and algae growth accelerate. In summer, provide additional shade or consider installing the tank in a sheltered location, as temperature rises of 10°C can nearly double cattle water consumption—up to 100L per day per animal in peak heat. Periodically disinfect the trough and monitor water quality; the UV-stabilised polyethylene won't leach chemicals, but regular maintenance prevents bacterial and algal issues.
