Position the 27000L tank on flat, well-drained ground in a location with partial shade to minimise algae growth and water temperature rise. Install a float valve to automatically maintain water level and prevent overflow. Ensure the tank is accessible to your livestock with adequate trough face space (0.75m per cow for dairy operations) and position it away from contamination sources. Connect supply lines securely and check all fittings before filling. Tips: In Queensland's hot climate, cattle water consumption can reach 100L per day during summer, so monitor water levels regularly—especially during temperature spikes. Clean the tank monthly to remove algae buildup and disinfect periodically; the smooth poly surface makes cleaning much easier than concrete alternatives. Position the tank in partial shade and consider installing a cover or windbreak to reduce water heating and algae proliferation during peak summer months.
