Install the RapidPlas 1000L slimline tank on level, well-drained ground with partial shade to minimise algae growth and water heating. Connect a float valve to your water supply to maintain consistent water levels and prevent overflow. Position the trough to allow adequate access for your livestock, allowing approximately 0.75m of trough face space per dairy cow. Clean the tank monthly and disinfect periodically to maintain water quality and prevent algae buildup. Tips: In Queensland's hot summer months, water consumption can nearly double, so monitor levels regularly and consider installing multiple troughs for larger herds. Place the trough in a location that offers afternoon shade to reduce water temperature and algae growth, while ensuring easy access for all animals. The UV-stabilised polyethylene won't crack or leach contaminants like concrete, and can be easily relocated for rotational grazing management.
