Position the 2250L tank on flat, well-drained ground in a location with partial shade to minimise algae growth and water temperature rise. Install a float valve to automatically maintain water level and prevent overflow. Ensure the trough face is accessible to all animals in your herd, allowing approximately 0.75m of trough space per dairy cow. Connect to your rainwater system or fill via tank outlet, and inspect regularly for debris or sediment. Tips: Place the trough in a sheltered spot away from direct sunlight to keep water cooler during Queensland summers—this reduces algae growth and encourages better water intake. Clean the tank monthly and disinfect periodically to maintain water quality, especially in warmer months when algae can develop rapidly. Consider installing the trough on slightly elevated, compacted ground to ensure proper drainage around the base.

Common Questions

What size is this rainwater tank?

It's a 2250 litre tank with a diameter of 1700 mm and total height of 1290 mm. It's designed as a low profile unit, so it won't dominate your space.

What comes with the tank?

Is this tank suitable for drinking water?

Yes. The tank is made from food grade UV stabilised polyethylene manufactured in Australia. This material keeps your drinking water free of fibre, taste and odour.

Will the sun damage the tank?

No. The tank is manufactured from UV stabilised polyethylene with sun protection technology built in, so it can handle the harsh Australian sun without breaking down over time.

Is it hard to position or install?

No. It has built-in lifting lugs to make positioning easier, and it doesn't need a centre pole thanks to its unique roof design. The two outlets also save time and money when connecting your system.
