QLD BLUE COUCH PER KG COATED RVD

Queensland Blue Couch is a warm-season lawn grass suited particularly to Queensland's tropical and subtropical areas. It performs best in warm soil and good sunlight.

Planting time

• Best time: Spring through summer, when soil temperatures are consistently above about 21°C.
• In Queensland, a practical sowing window is approximately late September to late February, although warmer northern areas can have a longer window.
• Avoid sowing during cold conditions, frost, or periods of extreme weather.
• The seed needs warm soil to germinate. Germination can occur in around 10–14 days under favourable hot conditions, although establishment can take longer depending on conditions.

Seeding rate

For a new lawn:

• 1–2 kg per 100 m²
• Equivalent to 10–20 g per m².
• Some commercial seed products specify 1 kg/100 m², so follow the rate on your particular seed bag where it differs.

For oversowing an existing lawn:

• Approximately 0.5–1 kg per 100 m² (5–10 g/m²).

Blue Couch seed is very small. Sow it very shallowly—about 1–5 mm deep—and lightly rake or roll it so the seed has good contact with the soil.

Queensland Blue Couch prefers:

• Full sun — ideally around 6–7 hours of direct sunlight.
• Warm conditions.
• It can tolerate acidic soils and temporary waterlogging, but prolonged wet conditions are less desirable.
