Unroll the tape and run it between your star pickets or posts at the desired height, securing with insulators or tape clips every metre or so depending on terrain. Tension it firmly but not so tight it stretches—you want it snug enough to stay in place but with a bit of give. Connect one end to your energiser and the other to a good earth stake, making sure all connections are clean and tight. Tips: White poly tape is visible to horses, but don't rely on that alone—a few strands of tape on their own won't stop a determined animal, so use it for temporary paddock shifts and subdivisions rather than permanent perimeter fencing. Keep the tape clean and inspect it regularly for fraying or damage, especially after high winds, as a break in the circuit will drop your voltage down the line. If you're running long distances, consider stepping up to poly braid instead, as tape loses effectiveness over 400-500 metres depending on how many animals are on the circuit.
