Unwind the tape from the reel and run it between insulators on your posts, keeping it reasonably tight but not stretched hard—poly tape needs a bit of give. Secure the tape at each end using appropriate end connectors or terminal blocks, making sure you've got good contact with your energiser. For temporary subdivisions, you can use step-in posts and simply loop the tape through the insulators as you go. Tips: White tape is highly visible to horses, but don't rely on visibility alone—horses will still test fences, so make sure your energiser is putting out decent joules. Keep the tape clean and dry where it connects to terminals, as dirt and moisture will cause resistance problems and reduce shock effectiveness. If you're running long lengths, check the voltage drop at the far end of your fence line; if it's dropping too far, you may need to add a second tape or upgrade your energiser.
