Unwind the tape from the reel and run it between your existing fence posts at the height you need — typically 1.2m for horses, lower for sheep. Secure it to timber posts using insulated tape clips or wrap it around the post a couple of times, making sure there's no slack that'll catch wind. Join lengths together using a Gallagher connector or by overlapping the tape 10cm and using the crimper tool to squeeze the join tight. Tips: Keep tension even across the whole run so it doesn't sag in the heat or vibrate and snap in the wind — a sagging tape won't conduct as reliably. Orange tape is easier on your eyes when you're checking fence line, but make sure your energiser is strong enough for the total length you're running, or you'll lose voltage at the far end. Always test the fence with a voltmeter before putting stock in; a dodgy join or a break in the tape that you can't see will cost you a beast getting out.
