Piliguard is the only commercially available vaccine in Australia against Moraxella bovis, the primary cause of pink eye in cattle.
It is a single dose vaccine that aids in the prevention of pink eye associated with infection by Moraxella bovis.

Use & dosage:
Shake well before use and keep thoroughly mixed during use.
A single 2ml dose is given via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. A 15mm by 16G needle is recommended.
Vaccine should be given 3-6 weeks prior to the onset of pink eye season on the recommendation of your veterinary advisor.
Before vaccine is injected, the proposed site of inoculation on the animals skin may be cleaned by swabbing with cotton-wool soaked in an antiseptic solution, such as methylated spirits.

Piliguard Vaccine Pink Eye is registered for use in beef and dairy cattle, including calves as young as 2 weeks of age. It targets Moraxella bovis, the primary bacterial cause of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (pink eye) in cattle. Piliguard is the only commercially available vaccine in Australia against Moraxella bovis, making it the go-to preventative tool for cattle producers managing pink eye in their herds.
Shake the vaccine well before use and keep it thoroughly mixed throughout the vaccination session. Administer a single 2 mL dose per animal via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, using a 15 mm x 16G needle. Tips for Best Results
- Timing is everything — vaccinate 3 to 6 weeks before fly season or before cattle are moved to high-risk environments such as dusty paddocks or areas with long grass that can irritate eyes and increase pink eye susceptibility.
- Keep the vaccine cold throughout the session — use a chilly bin or vaccine cooler and avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or a hot ute. Never freeze Piliguard as this will destroy the emulsion and render it ineffective.
- Use a clean, sharp needle for each animal where practical and disinfect injection sites to reduce the risk of injection-site reactions, particularly important with oil-based adjuvant vaccines.
- Record the date of vaccination, batch number, and expiry date for each mob treated — good record keeping supports herd health management and assists your vet in planning future vaccination schedules.
