NAMOI is a mid-maturity variety (>130 days from seeding to flowering); adapted to medium rainfall (>375mm) or irrigated areas with medium to heavier soils. Resistant to rust and susceptible to ascochyta and chocolate spot, as well as to lucerne flea, blue-green aphid, cowpea aphid and Heliothis. For hay production it has good leaf retention.
NAMOI is sprawling and weak-stemmed, with purple, pea-like flowers. It will grow through and over associated plants to produce a dense, intertwined sward.
The plant flowers profusely from late spring to early summer, producing many two-seeded to five-seeded pods. The seeds are fairly large (26,500 seeds/kg), about half the size of field peas and high in protein.
