PER KG TOM GRADY WINTER COVER CROP MIX (25) SELECTED SEEDS at a glance

This is a multi-use mixture of annuals that can be used for cover cropping, soil/carbon building and grazing - Best suited to Cattle, Sheep and Goats.

Not suited to Horses for extended grazing.

If horses are grazing this mix, it should only be for short (1-2 hour) periods and grazing should be withheld if grain heads are present in the Ryecorn or Oats.

Gazing should be managed to allow for regrowth.

Do not allow grazing below 250 - 300mm for best longevity.

The Ryecorn in this mix will not last the entire winter. All others in the mix will if grazing is managed.

Crop residue can be slashed, mown, or tilled into the soil at the end of winter or left standing.

Summer perennials will re-emerge as temperatures start rising.

Alternatively, a summer annual crop, cover crop mix, or perennial pasture could be sown after this point.

Plant at 25 - 40kg per hectare.

Mix Contains:

35%: Mighty Graze
15%: Tebla Ryegrass
15%: Field Pea
12%: Popany Velch
10%: Ryecorn
7%: Radish
6%: Chicory

Sow during autumn (March–May) in SE Queensland for establishment before winter. Prepare a firm, weed-free seedbed and roll for good seed-to-soil contact. Sow at 25–40 kg/ha at 5–10 mm depth by broadcast or direct drill, with adequate moisture at germination. Manage grazing to allow regrowth — do not graze below 250–300 mm for best longevity. The ryecorn component will not persist all winter; the other species will if grazing is managed. Not suited to horses for extended grazing; if horses graze, limit to short 1–2 hour periods and withhold grazing once grain heads appear in the ryecorn/oats. At winter's end, crop residue can be slashed, mown or tilled in, or left standing; summer perennials re-emerge as temperatures rise, or a summer crop/perennial pasture can be sown. Guide only — confirm rates and management for your soil, rainfall and conditions with a local agronomist. TGRM (07) 5482 1692.
