Sentinel is our most popular "Super sweet (Sh2)" variety due to its superior taste and market leading disease and heat tolerance.

Sentinel produces large 21cm cobs of corn with 20 kernels around the circumference. The kernels are bright yellow in colour and the husk and flag leaf are a dark green, which gives the cob its outstanding appearance.

Sentinel is suited to production areas and seasonal conditions where the night temperatures do not fall below 15 degrees. It can handle the hottest of days, and with market leading blight and rust tolerance combined with a attractive cob it is a very popular variety.

Sentinel seed is only available treated, and can be sent to all states of Australia.

Sow Sentinel sweet corn at the rate on the label into warm, well-prepared soil when night temperatures are consistently above 15°C. Sow at 2-3 cm depth in rows 60-75 cm apart with plants 25-30 cm within rows. Apply a balanced starter fertiliser at sowing. Side-dress with nitrogen when plants are 30 cm tall to support cob development. Harvest when silks have dried and kernels are plump and milky on puncture. Tips: Sentinel is a super-sweet Sh2 hybrid with outstanding heat tolerance and disease resistance (blight and rust). Its 21cm cobs with 20-row kernel count and dark green husk make it excellent for fresh market use. Sow in blocks of at least 4 rows rather than single rows to ensure good cross-pollination. Sentinel seed is treated and available to all Australian states.
