Rotational Grazed – Long Term

Sow Nourish Italian ryegrass at 20–25 kg/ha during April–May in the Gympie region, or March in cooler hinterland areas. Apply 60–100 kg/ha of MAP or DAP at sowing to establish strong root systems and early growth. For best results, sow into clean seedbeds or oversow into run-down summer pastures to fill winter feed gaps. Avoid sowing with other modern ryegrass varieties, as Italian ryegrass is highly competitive and will dominate the pasture. Tips: Use the anchor test before first grazing: pull a plant at grazing height—if it stays firmly in the ground, it's ready. Implement rotational grazing at the 2.5–3 leaf stage, then rest the paddock to allow carbohydrate recharge before the next grazing cycle. This maximises yield and feed quality through the winter-spring season.
