PER KG RHODES GRASS RECLAIMER COATED SEED (20KG) SELECTED SEED at a glance

Reclaimer Rhodes Grass is an extremely palatable, spreading, perennial sub-tropical grass. Ideally suited to cultivation in tropical and subtropical areas, it can be used as green chop or hay. Reclaimer Rhodes Grass grown under irrigation can provide excellent dry matter yields of up to 2 tonnes per cut.

Reclaimer is early maturing, erect, warm season, highly stoloniferous perennial Rhodes grass that has retained the attributes of Fine cut but with increased stolon density and number of growing points giving increased plant recruitment that will form a dense mat over the ground more rapidly than other varieties.

Because of its strong creeping habit Reclaimer binds the soils, providing good erosion control. In addition Reclaimer has increased dry matter production, (up to 20% over Katambora), with early uniform flowering, and dense growth once established.

Bred for increased production in saline areas. Trials have indicated that established Reclaimer Rhodes will remain productive in saline conditions of between 4 to 10 deci Siemens, (dS/m), per meter and could survive in conditions up to 20 dS/m. As an establishing plant Reclaimer may struggle to establish where sown into areas that are affected with surface salt.

Advantages:

excellent water use efficiency
highly palatable
no oxalate or prussic acid
fine leaf and stem
suited to silage, grazing and hay enterprises
suited to a wide range of soil types
600 mm+
high salt tolerance

Seeding rate:

Dryland: 6 – 15 kg/ha
Irrigated: 20 – 35 kg/ha

Sow Rhodes Grass Reclaimer coated seed during spring-summer (October-January) at 6 kg/ha as a monoculture (IH Seeds / Selected Seeds guide); sow more heavily in mixtures or where rapid ground cover is needed. Surface sow or shallow-drill to no more than 1 cm depth. Use press wheels or roll after sowing to ensure good soil contact. Do not graze until well established with a strong root system and some seed set. Tips: Reclaimer is suited to a range of soils including areas where soil disturbance or reclaimation work has occurred. Rhodes grass performs best on well-drained soils and is particularly suited to the wetter coastal areas of SE Queensland. Rotational grazing maintains feed quality; graze in the leaf stage before flowering. Compatible legumes like burgundy bean, siratro or desmanthus will boost protein content.

Common Questions
