Fine leaf and increased dry matter production
Jackpot is a late flowering, diploid Italian ryegrass with a fine leaf and is quick out of the ground. Bred for increased feed production, Jackpot produces high amounts of dry matter in winter and spring for up to 2 years in favourable conditions.

The late spring growth of Jackpot allows farmers to take advantage of mid-spring rainfall and is an excellent option for traditional Italian ryegrass regions.

Pasture seed sowing rate (sole): 25-35kg/ha
Pasture seed sowing rate (mixed): 10-20kg/ha

Rainfall
Minimum 600mm rainfall per annum unless irrigated

Sow Jackpot diploid Italian ryegrass at 25-35 kg/ha as a sole crop, or 10-20 kg/ha in a mix, during April-May in the Gympie region. Apply 60-100 kg/ha MAP or DAP at sowing. Use the anchor test before first grazing: pull a plant at grazing height—if it stays firmly in the ground, it's ready. Graze rotationally at the 2.5-3 leaf stage and rest between grazings to recharge carbohydrates. Tips: Jackpot is a late-heading diploid variety (+22 days later than Nui), extending the spring feed window significantly. Its fine leaf and quick establishment suit it to properties targeting late-spring dry matter production. Jackpot can persist into a second year under favourable conditions (600mm+ annual rainfall), making it an economical choice for longer-term winter feed programs.
