Apply the anchor test before first grazing: pull a plant at grazing height; if it remains firmly in the ground, it is ready to graze. Tips: Use rotational grazing at the 2.5–3 leaf stage to maximise productivity and allow adequate rest for carbohydrate recovery between rotations. Tetila is ideal for oversowing into run-down summer pastures to fill winter feed gaps in SE Queensland. Avoid sowing with modern perennial ryegrasses or other species, as Italian ryegrass is highly competitive and will dominate.
