Apply OMYA Calciprill according to your soil test result and target pH — not by a blanket tonnage. Because Calciprill is a very fine, high-purity calcium carbonate prill it is highly reactive, so it is used at much lower rates than conventional aglime. Omya's current Australian guidance is a maintenance rate of about 300–450 kg/ha/year (around 300 on clay, 350 on silty and 450 on sandy soils) and, where you are actively lifting pH, a progressive-improvement rate of about 600–700 kg/ha/year (around 600 on sandy, 650 on silty and 700 on clay soils). Always confirm the rate for your soil type and pH target with a current soil test and your agronomist. Spread evenly with a standard fertiliser or lime spreader; the prills can also be applied by air on steep country. Tips: Take a soil test before applying so the rate matches your actual pH and soil type — applying a blanket rate can over- or under-lime. Calciprill can be applied to established pasture or crop and, being highly reactive, gives a faster pH and crop response than conventional aglime. It can be applied on its own or blended with fertiliser — Omya specifically supports blending Calciprill into fertiliser blends. Allow time for full pH correction, particularly on more acidic soils.
