Surefire Trepidex 500 Insecticide is an emulsifiable concentrate formulation providing useful control of many pests including those that affect tropical & sub-tropical crops, such as macadamia and avocados.
On turf and lawn, Trepidex 500 will also control Lawn Grub and Lawn Armyworm.
Trepidex is registered for fruit spotting bugs and monolepta beetles in Avocados.
It is a group 1B insecticide with the active ingredient Trichlorfon formulated for the control of chewing insects.
Trepidex 500 is also registered for Queensland Fruit Fly, Cutworm, Lace Bug, Rutherglen Bug and Green Vegetable Bug in a range of horticultural crops.
When used correctly, Trepidex 500 will not significantly impact beneficial insects or bees.

Surefire Trepidex 500 is an emulsifiable concentrate containing 500 g/L trichlorfon, a Group 1B organophosphate (anticholinesterase) insecticide for chewing and some sucking pests in a wide range of fruit, vegetable, field crop, pasture and turf situations. Always read the full product label before use and mix according to the rate specified for your target pest and crop – label rates range from about 95–500 mL per 100 L of water for dilute spraying of fruit and vegetable crops to 600 mL–1.7 L/ha in field crops and 900 mL–1.2 L/ha in pastures. Partially fill the spray tank with clean water, add the required amount of product, then top up to the final volume while agitating continuously. Use clean, non-alkaline water: trichlorfon breaks down rapidly by alkaline hydrolysis, so buffer alkaline bore or tank water and spray promptly after mixing. Apply as a thorough foliar spray using ground rig or overhead equipment, ensuring good canopy coverage. Treat at first sign of pest activity or at economic threshold levels. Do not apply if rain is expected soon after application. Avoid application during strong winds to minimise spray drift onto neighbouring crops or waterways – very toxic to aquatic life. Dangerous to bees: do not spray plants in flower while bees are foraging. Withholding periods: do not harvest edible crops for 2 days (leafy vegetables 5 days) after application; do not graze or cut for stock food for 2 days. This is a Schedule 6 poison – wear the personal protective equipment specified on the label during mixing and application. Store securely away from children, feed and foodstuffs.

Tips for Best Results
- Watch water quality: Trichlorfon is rapidly degraded by alkaline hydrolysis. Use slightly acidic to neutral water (buffer alkaline bore or concrete-tank water) and spray as soon as possible after mixing.
- Apply at the right growth stage: Treat young, early-instar larvae – small caterpillars and grubs are far easier to control than mature larvae.
- Time applications wisely: Spray in the cooler parts of the day (early morning or late afternoon) and for lawn grubs/armyworm in turf apply late in the day when larvae are active near the surface.
- Manage insecticide resistance: Trichlorfon is a Group 1B (organophosphate) insecticide. Rotate with insecticides from different mode-of-action groups (e.g. Group 3A, 5 or 28) and avoid repeated consecutive applications of Group 1B products.
- Protect bees and waterways: Dangerous to bees – do not spray plants in flower while bees are foraging. Very toxic to aquatic life – keep spray and run-off out of dams, drains and watercourses. Store in the original container in a cool, dry, locked location.
