Attach the needle to a sterile syringe, draw up the required dose, then insert subcutaneously or intramuscularly as appropriate for the drug. 16G x 1/2" (12mm) is a short-length needle with a larger bore, suited to subcutaneous injections where a short depth penetration is required, or for very young calves and lambs where longer needles would penetrate too deeply. Dispose of needles safely in a sharps container after use. Tips: The short 1/2" (12mm) length suits SC injection sites where the skin fold is lifted and the needle is inserted at a shallow angle. For IM injections in adult cattle, a longer needle (3/4" to 1") is usually needed to reach muscle tissue. Always match needle length to injection route and animal size as specified on the drug label.
