MURRAY FENCE WIRE 2.50MM HIGH TENSILE GALV 1500M WHITES 10171 at a glance

Murray Fence Wire 2.50mm High Tensile Galvanised is a premium rural fencing wire designed for durable and long lasting fence construction. Suitable for livestock containment, property boundaries, paddock fencing, and general farm fencing applications, offering strength and resistance to corrosion. Recoiled for smooth, tangle free handling during installation.

Features & Benefits
• High Tensile Strength: Withstands greater loads and stress without breaking; ideal for long fence runs and wider post spacings.
• Standard Galvanised Coating: Zinc-coated to resist rust and corrosion, extending wire lifespan in outdoor conditions.
• Smooth, Tangle Free Coil: Ensures smooth delivery and reduced installation difficulties.
• Australian Made: Manufactured locally for Australian rural fencing systems.
• Versatile Use: Suitable for agricultural, lifestyle, residential, and larger fencing projects.

Specifications
• Wire Diameter: 2.50mm
• Tensile Strength: High Tensile
• Finish: Standard Galvanised
• Coil Length: 1500m
• Recommended Tension: 1.8kN
• Typical Breaking Strain: 5.4kN
• Weight: 58kg per coil

How It Works
High tensile galvanised wire is engineered for higher breaking strength than soft or medium tensile wire. It allows the fence wire to be raised to higher tension levels without losing elasticity or breaking, resulting in firmer fence lines that hold shape under livestock pressure and weather stresses. The galvanised coating protects the wire from oxidation and corrosion.

Applications
• Livestock Fencing: Cattle, sheep, goats, and other farm animals, used with appropriate posts, stays, and strainers.
• Boundary & Perimeter Fencing: Property boundaries or paddock divisions.
• Farm & Agricultural Fencing Projects: Where strength and corrosion resistance are needed.
• Residential or Hobby Fencing: Durable fencing for rural lifestyle properties.

Installation Notes
• Use high-tensile straining tools to achieve recommended tension without damaging wire.
• Secure wire ends at posts and strainers to maintain long-term tension.
• Use staples or clips designed for high tensile wire where required.

Unroll the wire carefully and tension it along your fence line using a come-along or tractor, aiming for moderate tension that allows about 50mm deflection when pushed mid-span. Secure the wire to posts using appropriate fasteners—clamps work well on timber, or wrap and twist around steel posts depending on your setup. Don't over-tension on hot days as the wire will contract when it cools and can snap or damage posts. Tips: Keep the wire dry during storage and handle it carefully to avoid kinks, which create weak points that'll fail under stock pressure. In Queensland heat, always tension your wire in the early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler, otherwise you'll have slack fencing by winter.

Common Questions

What is this wire suitable for?

Murray Fence Wire 2.50mm High Tensile Galvanised is designed for livestock containment, property boundaries, paddock fencing, and general farm fencing applications. It's suitable for cattle, sheep, goats, and other farm animals, as well as boundary & perimeter fencing and residential or hobby fencing on rural lifestyle properties.

Why choose high tensile wire?

High tensile wire has greater breaking strength than soft or medium tensile wire, which means it can be raised to higher tension levels without losing elasticity or breaking. This results in firmer fence lines that hold their shape under livestock pressure and weather stresses, and allows for longer fence runs and wider post spacings.

How is the wire protected from rust?

This wire has a standard galvanised (zinc) coating that resists rust and corrosion, extending the wire's lifespan in outdoor conditions.

What's included in a coil?

Each coil contains 1500m of 2.50mm wire and weighs 58kg. The wire is recoiled for smooth, tangle-free handling during installation.

What tension should I use when installing?

The recommended tension is 1.8kN. Use high-tensile straining tools to achieve this tension without damaging the wire, and secure wire ends at posts and strainers to maintain long-term tension.
