Milk strainers and filters are useful for identifying problematic milk prior to consumption. All 304 (food grade) stainless steel funnel with removable mesh strainer and wire retainer ring. This strainer ensures that the milk is filtered properly as it’s collected, and the wire retainer ring helps keep the filter or strainer screen securely in place during the process. Ideal for use with Cowbell 20L and 40L milk cans or the container of your choice. Top 32cm diameter. Spout/Neck 13cm diameter.

To use the milk funnel, wire retainer ring, and flat stainless steel mesh strainer disc together, follow these steps:

1. Insert the Strainer disc: Place the mesh strainer disc inside the funnel. The strainer should sit flat on the indented ring in the funnel spout to strain any impurities from the milk as it flows through.

2. Secure with the Wire Retainer Ring: The retainer ring is designed to hold the strainer in place. After placing the filter inside the funnel, squeeze the two prongs together to close the retainer ring and insert and position the retainer ring on top of the filter. Release the prongs for a snug fit. The ring should fit snugly around the edges of the filter, securing it so it doesn’t move or float when milk is poured through the funnel. The retainer ring can also be used to hold cloth or disposable filters in place. E.g., cheesecloth or coffee filters.

3. Use the Funnel: Once the strainer is secured with the retainer ring, you can use the funnel to pour milk into the milk can. The filter will strain out any debris or impurities, ensuring only clean milk passes into the can.

4. Removing the Strainer: After use, squeeze the retainer ring prongs to make the ring smaller for removal. You will then be able to lift the filter/strainer out of the funnel for rinsing and cleaning.

Place the Shoof 212958 milk strainer funnel into your milking bucket or collection vessel before milking begins. Pour milk through the funnel immediately after collection to filter out debris, hair, and contaminants. Ensure the funnel sits securely in the bucket opening, with the mesh screen facing downward into the milk flow. Remove and clean the funnel promptly after use. Tips: For best results, inspect the mesh screen before each use to ensure no blockages reduce filtering efficiency. Consider using the funnel with fresh milk collection to capture impurities at the source rather than filtering stored milk. Store the funnel in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight to maintain the stainless steel finish.
