Mouse and Snake Mesh is ideal for building aviaries for small birds such as finches.

With a small aperture of 6.5 x 6.5mm and 0.60mm wire diameter, it is perfect for protecting the bottom of your aviary or cage from unwanted vermin.

Be sure to take into account wire diameter, aperture and roll size when selecting mesh for a project.

Lay the mesh flat along the perimeter you want to protect, burying it at least 150mm into the ground to prevent mice and snakes from burrowing underneath. Secure the top edge to existing fencing or posts using fencing wire or clips, ensuring it's pulled tight with no gaps. Work methodically around sheds, feed stores, and other buildings where rodents and snakes are likely to shelter, overlapping sections by at least 100mm. Tips: Check your mesh regularly for damage or settling, especially after heavy rain or stock movement nearby—even small tears will let mice through and defeat the purpose. Bury the bottom edge properly on day one; snakes in particular are excellent at finding any gap, and once they're in, they're hard to shift. Keep vegetation trimmed back from the fenced area so you can spot any breaches early and so snakes don't have cover right against your barrier.
